Finding plus size pirate costumes has become very easy to do. Not only can you purchase many different pirate costumes on line today you can get a lot of ideas about what type of pirate you would like to be this Halloween.
If you are looking to be more of a villain one choice is Captain Hook. Captain Hook is Peterman’s nemesis. The most known trait of Captain Hook is his missing arm that has been replaced by a hook. Did you know he lost his arm to a crocodile and if you ever watch any shows you will see the crock follow Captain Hook around because he like the taste of his arm so much he wants to have another bite of Captain Hook.
Another plus size pirate costume to choose might be a Buccaneer pirate. Most of the Buccaneer pirates were in the Caribbean Sea and over took French and Spanish ships that were shipping goods to the colonies. Interestingly enough many pirates, who considered them self Buccaneers, ran their ships not with a captain but as a collective group. The group decided where and what to raid, and then split the goods amongst the group evenly.
Every pirate needs a first mate. Maybe the lady of the family would like to dress in a plus size first mate costume. The role of the first mate is that of an overseer, apropos for the women of the house. Many first mates are considered the controller of the ship. They are responsible for food, persons, cargo, and emergencies. Sounds familiar does it not ladies.
Now when the pirates came to shore you know the first place they went was to their local tavern. Consider becoming the Tavern wench in order to entice the pirate of your eye at the Halloween party this year.
When you arrive at the party in your plus size pirate costume, you must play the part. Pirates have a language of their own. Ahoy – means hello. Aye – means yes. If you run into someone, you just don’t get along with or drives you crazy call them Bilge rat.
In your search for plus size pirate costumes, you will most likely run across traditional pirates costumes like Captain Hook or a High Seas Pirate for the men. For the women maybe you would like to be a First Mate pirate, or Buccaneer pirate. Whichever you choose you will find many types of plus size pirate costumes.

I love these pirate costumes. As a plus sized gal, I’m not sure I’d have the nerve to wear the top one but I really like the one on the bottom!
My stepmom is a huge Buccaneer fan and I bet she would love to dress up as a plus size pirate. It’s great to see that not only men can dress in a pirate costume.

It’s good to see a mix of both women’s and men’s plus sized costumes for once. Most plus sized costume sites are geared towards women, but there’s also lots of large guys out there that are interested in dressing up for Halloween and can’t always find something that fits them.

I think that pirate costumes are a great costume option, especially for plus sizes. There are so many layers and just the natural looseness and fit of the costumes lend themselves very well for plus size needs. Thanks for the great costume ideas.

The pirate has to be one of the most sought after costumes. You would think it would be a skeleton or something most closely related to Halloween, but nope!

My daughter, wife and I have been pirates for halloween for the past 3 years. These costumes look great.
This year I wanna have me and my boyfriend dress up as pirates and hand candy out to kids. I’m thinking about just making the costumes at home with the clothes we have. We have the bandanas and boots. We’ll probably get eye patches. But what else could I use from home to make costumes?
